It all began in 1974 with a true pioneer named Sissy McGill. As a devout animal lover, Sissy believed that pets deserved nutritious pet food to keep them healthy and happy. However, finding high-quality pet foods in America wasn’t as easy as in Europe. So, she created Solid Gold® to set a new ‘gold’ standard for pet nutrition in the United States.

Our very first product, Hund-N-Flocken, was proof that holistic pet food was far from a pipe dream all those years ago. And now, over 50 years later, Sissy McGill’s bold vision still lives on. A Bold Beginning

At a time when American pet food lagged behind and needed a pioneer, a bold woman named Sissy McGill decided to step up and do something about it.

With gut health in mind, Sissy defied the odds and launched Solid Gold® out of San Diego, California – starting with her first flagship product Hund-N-Flocken.
