Thanksgiving Recipes For Your Pets

The Holiday Season is upon us, and who better to share it with than our fur babies? They don’t make fun of you for being single (in fact, they may prefer it that way), won’t say anything about the extra pounds you gained over the year, and will obviously provide the best after-turkey snuggles. Here are a couple options that you can cook up to enjoy a festive day with your four legged bestie:

Solid Gold Chewy Dog Treats- Turkey, Sweet Potato, & Cinnamon

Pro Tip- No worries about having to change out of your matching PJ’s, these require no kitchen time and can be picked up at your favorite pet store.

Thanksgiving Tuna Crunchers from Cat Time

Ingredients

10 ounces Tuna in water (1 cup)*

2 tablespoons Catnip

1 Egg, slightly beaten

2 cups Whole Wheat Flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (Fahrenheit)
  2. Mix all of the ingredients in the bowl, adding one at a time. Start with the tuna so all of the ingredients have a base to stick to. It will turn into a dough.
  3. Knead the dough into ball and roll onto a floured surface. Roll the dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Score the dough in a checkerboard pattern. Be sure not to cut all of the way through!
  5. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 13 minutes. Let cool and then break into pieces. Keep any uneaten treats in the fridge for a couple of days, and then discard if there are any left.

Cat Crackers from Billy Bear 4 Kids

Ingredients

6 ounces of undrained tuna

1 cup cornmeal

1 cup flour

1/3 cup water

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Measure all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into treat sized pieces. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden. Let cool. Give to your cat and watch them gobble it up.

As always, moderation is key (I’m still working on this myself) when feeding treats to our fur babies. Make sure your loved one does not indulge too heavily, and have a wonderful, healthy Thanksgiving!
